DICTATION
DESERTS
A desert is
an area of land with little precipitation. Consequently, living conditions are hostile for
plants and animals, which need special adaptations to survive in this hard
environment.
Deserts are formed because
of large variations in temperature between day and night, which break rocks in
pieces.
Deserts take up about one third of the land surface of
the world. This includes much of the polar regions where occurs little
precipitation and which are sometimes called "cold deserts".
